Jelena Soro

 


Jelena Soro started her musical education in Novi Sad, playing oboe in class of prof. ŽužanaEgić. After she finished secondary music school “IsidorBajić” parallel with special mathematic class in grammar high school “J.J.Zmaj”, Jelena enrolled Music Academy in Novi Sad. She continues and finished her studies at Music Academy in Ljubljana with titles: Academic Musician Oboist in 2009 and Professor of Oboe in 2010. Later she improves her musicianship at MUK Privatuniversität in Vienna. At the moment, Jelena is finishing Master studies at Berklee College of Music in Valencia with master theses “Music and consciousness – how music helps us raise our consciousness”.
During student years and later in her career, Jelena is actively researching field of free improvisation learning at underground social-culture places to high education institutions. In 2012 she started the project PostArt Ensemble through which she works on moving the boundaries of contemporary performance practice. PostArt Ensemble has 2 published CDs and performances in Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain and Serbia.
She shared her knowledge and experience during 7 years of pedagogic work at Music school Postojna (Slovenia).
Big influences on Jelena’s music journey were professors and musicians: Javier Vercher, Guy Porat, SanjaRomić, Keith Tippett, Boris Kovač, Božo Rogelja.
